What is a Shopify product feed?
A Shopify product feed contains product information formatted for another system, such as an advertising catalog. A Shopify CSV can supply the source data, but each ad platform has its own fields and requirements. This guide uses a feed URL or product file supplied to QuickAds. The process starts with that data; it does not rely on a native Shopify app or an automatic store connection.
Choose a source your team can maintain
Decide who will update the data after import. Use a CSV for a sample or fixed batch. Use a connected feed URL to review catalog changes. Check the source format and match its columns to the fields you need.
Keep an original CSV
Export the products you need and save an untouched copy. Add the export date so the team knows when its prices and stock were captured.
Check the feed URL
Open the feed and check that it contains product records. A store homepage or collection link is not the same as a feed URL.
Assign the updates
Choose who checks new products, promotions and stock. Agree how updates reach the feed and who approves replacement creative.
Keep each variant with its own image
Choose a product with several colours or sizes. Follow each record from its ID to its image and destination. If the red variant has a blue image, fix the source before a template repeats that mismatch across the ads.
Keep product IDs consistent
Keep a stable reference for each item when updating data. Check destination requirements before renaming IDs or merging records.
Open the variant images
Open the image URL for each colour or version. Confirm it shows that variant, rather than the parent product's first photo.
Keep related CSV rows together
Shopify warns that sorting CSV data can separate variants or images from their products. Edit a copy and check those relationships afterward.
Map the fields, preview the ads, then export
Map source columns to image, text and price slots in QuickAds. Preview products with different image shapes and title lengths. After approving the designs, export for the intended platform and finish the catalog and campaign setup there.
Check each visible field
Identify the column supplying every name, image, price and detail on the design. Omit information the product data cannot support.
Inspect changed products
Connected URL feeds can show added, changed and removed products. Inspect the affected records and decide which designs to regenerate.
Check the destination image
Keep clean images for Google Shopping and promotional designs for social ads separate. Check that each destination receives the intended asset.
Feed URL or CSV?
Choose based on how often the catalog changes and who will maintain it. Check compatibility with a sample before importing the full range.

Common questions
Practical questions about shopify product feeds.
Can I start with a Shopify CSV export?
Yes. Check the product CSV's columns and map them in QuickAds. A Shopify export supplies source data; it still needs preparation for the advertising destination's fields and format.
Is a native Shopify app required?
This process uses a product file or feed URL supplied to QuickAds. It does not rely on a native app or a one-click store connection. Check the source format before importing.
Will a CSV stay in sync with my store?
No. The CSV contains data from the time of export. When the store changes, supply current data and check whether the ads need new images, prices or offer text.
Can one product have different images for different colours?
Yes. Use the image matching the advertised colour. Check each variant ID and image reference, then preview several colours before producing the full range.
Will this change the products in my Shopify store?
Exporting does not edit the store. Importing an edited CSV back into Shopify can change product data. Keep the original export and only reimport when you intend to update the store.
